As you know, Tarver-Rendon is now an Agriculture Leadership School. Our Ag Leadership teacher, Mrs. Atwood, has taken the students out to the Discovery Park for them to experience a Farmer's Market. Students had eggplant, radishes, celery and other veggies to buy and sell at the market. Students worked on their estimation, rounding and addition skills. Mrs. Atwood has taught our 2nd-4th graders the basics to gardening while planting a fall vegetable garden. On September 29, our students will go to the Ron Whitson Agriculture Center to listen to guest speakers about agriculture related careers.
Mr. Lane, our fabulous counselor, has started teaching Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Leadership during his guidance lessons. Every student will understand that they have the capacity to lead in their own lives and affect those around them by the choices they make. Our first six weeks, students are being taught the leadership skill Be Proactive. Students practiced being proactive by contributing coins to help families effected by Hurricane Harvey. We also have several classes that will be collecting supplies for schools that were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. More details coming soon about the supply drive!
