Great news — thanks to talented grant writers and the generous support of the MISD Education Foundation, our campus received an exciting boost of new resources!
Last fall three staff members — Mrs. Windle, Mrs. Drake, and Mrs. Bledsoe — each submitted grant proposals that were fully funded by the Education Foundation.
-
School counselor Mrs. Windle used her grant to purchase hands-on materials for small-group counseling and individual student support across grade levels. She says the resources have made sessions more interactive and effective: younger students are learning to name emotions and make positive choices, while upper-elementary students are strengthening self-regulation and conflict-resolution skills. Mrs. Windle also reports that many items are enhancing whole-class guidance lessons tied to our six-week character traits. The results have been even more powerful than she expected.
-
Agriculture teacher Mrs. Drake received funding for her project “Lettuce Read: Growing Readers with Ag-Accurate Literature.” The grant provided several agriculture-focused books and teacher guides that will be used in general education classrooms to build reading skills while introducing agricultural concepts. Mrs. Drake is thrilled — these materials will make it simple and fun for classroom teachers to weave agriculture into literacy lessons.
-
Librarian Mrs. Bledsoe secured funds to replace books that were ruined when the roof leaked during the March 2025 hailstorm. Many beloved titles were damaged, and students are overjoyed to find their favorite books back on the library shelves and ready to check out.
A huge thank-you to the MISD Education Foundation for continuing to invest in Tarver-Rendon and every school across Mansfield ISD!
