FFA News

Our FFA members have competed in stock shows in a BIG way!  Our 3rd and 4th grade FFA members have been competing in stock shows all across the state.  Students most recently showed in the Houston Stock Show and the Tarrant County Jr Livestock Show and Youth Fair.

At the Houston Stock Show, Hudson Atwood showed a Polled Hereford heifer that placed 4th in his class. Paislee King placed 1st in her class with her Limousine heifer.

Students also won big at the Tarrant County Show and Youth Fair!

Grayson Oliver placed 2nd in his class with his breeding rabbit.  He also placed 2nd in Junior Showmanship.

Brasen Teigen placed 19th with his market rabbit pen.

Bryn Willson placed 12th with her market rabbit pen. She also placed 7th with a beaded necklace in the jewelry contest at the youth fair.

Marylin Butler placed 12 with her single-market rabbit. She also placed 3rd with her sugar cookies in the baking contest at the youth fair.

Liam Lopez received 1st place for his lightweight pig and 2nd place for his medium-weight pig.

Lucas Lopez placed 6th in his class with his lightweight pig.

Bailey Coker placed 2nd in her class with her lightweight dark breed pig.

Kinsler Gengo placed 2nd in the purebred white pig class.  Her other pig placed 9th in its class.  She was awarded the Swine Junior Showmanship belt buckle.

Madlyn Broussard placed 3rd in her heifer class and won the Junior Cattle Showmanship Belt Buckle. She showed 2 horses that placed 4th and 5th in their classes.  In addition, she placed 2nd in horse showmanship and 3rd in the horse skill-a-thon contest.

Kinsler, Liam, Lucas, Bailey, Bryn, and Marylin all sold animals in the sale and earned over $6,900 from the sale to put toward projects for next year.

We are so proud of ALL of our Junior FFA members who worked hard raising and training animals and created entries for the Youth Fair.   Some students did not place or make the sale.  But they all developed leadership skills and learned life lessons along the way.

We will be holding an informational meeting for next year's FFA program in May.  If you have any questions about the program before then, email Mrs. Drake.
